Sterre Arentsen (1997) is a Dutch Artist specialized in photography. In her work, she explores the relation between human and nature. However, people rarely appear in her pictures. Lifeless objects convey humanity in their place. Sterre captures reflections of our nature in our surroundings, turning the world inside out in a sense. Various analog techniques allow her to extract more from a scene than what meets the eye at first glance.
''My memories have never been vivid. When I look at old photos of myself, I am often left astonished. As if I am looking at someone else entirely and seeing the scene for the first time. This sensation is something I search for during my work process. I want it to be intuitive to such an extent that I will not be able to remember how, when, and where I shot something subsequently. Colors and shapes form the foundation of surrealistic associations, filling my archive with timeless memories.''
